Is a subscription for Loot Elite worth it?

TL:DR. Yes, it is, only because they made the site in a way you need it to be competitive.

1) It reduces buy order's gem cost by 50%. This is actually crazy. First of all, now you can resell items for less that $2.50 and break even on gems. This opens a whole new market of trading. Second of all, if you continue doing the same number of buy orders you were before LootElite, now you're saving 50% of your gems, getting you even closer to your next decrease in commission price.

2) Elite reduces the cost in gems between commission levels by 50%. This is particularly significant because the amount of gems in the final 3 commission values are so huge. The advertised amounts don't seem too far apart because the trick is to actually get to 5% its the sum of all the upgrades before it. The table below shows the difference in their advertisement on the left and adjusted on the right.

Even funnier, the graph they post on their website shows a linear relationship between time and % commission, but that just isn't true as the amount of gems required is nearly exponential.
